Hiya folks! I am so excited, because today I'm having a giveaway for an Aurifil Thread Chart! It has 252 colors of real thread displayed. Wouldn't you like to win one? I sure wish I had one...
Shopping for thread and fabric online is not as accurate as it is convenient. Every monitor shows color differently, making fabric and thread shopping a hit or a miss when trying to match colors. I'm very grateful to Jean from Pumpkinvine Corner for graciously providing this prize for me to give to one of you. Her store carries all sorts of goodies from patterns, and notions to decorative wire hangers...and of course, a goldmine of Aurifil threads. By goldmine, I mean a huge selection of colors, weights and spool sizes. Unfortunately, I do not have a local quilt shop. If you happen to have the same misfortune, you know how hard it is to find a good selection AND a great price on the supplies you need for your sewing projects. I was super impressed with Jean's selection of Aurifil. She even sells the LARGE cones! Very few online stores sell the 6,452 yard 50 wt. cones and the 5,140 yard 40 wt. cones. Just check out Pumpkinvine Corner's selection of Aurifil threads from the links below and you'll see what I mean. Oh, and Jean will even special order Aurifil cones if you can't find the color you want. Super cool huh? One last thing...orders over $50 qualify for 1/2 price shipping and orders over $99 ship for free!
50 wt Cones (on orange spindle) - 50 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 6452 yards
50 wt Large Spools (on orange spool) - 50 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 1422 yards
50 wt Mini Spools (on orange spool) - 50 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 220 yards
40 wt Cones (on green spindle) - 40 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 5140 yards
40 wt Large Spools (on green spool) - 40 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 1094 yards
40 wt Mini Spools (on green spool) - 40 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 164 yards
12 wt Mini Spools (on Red spools) - 12 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: 54 yards
Large Bobbin Spools (on white spool)- 60 wt. Aurifil 100% Cotton: Bobbin Thread: 1531 yards

Aurifil Color Card - Aurifil "Real Thread" Thread Chart
Optional entries:
3. Visit Pumpkinvine Corner, have a look around and then come back and tell me something you found there that interests you--besides Aurifil threads. For example: I just noticed she carries those John James Pebbles that some bloggers are giving away recently in the Colonial Needle Blog Hop!
4. Leave a comment on any non-giveaway post. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts and opinions.
5. Come up with a new creative name for your favorite color of Aurifil thread. Just tell me the number of the thread and the new name you want to give it. If you need to see all the thread colors just go to Alex's Thread Gallery. Example: One of my favorites is #4658 and I would call it Orange Dreamsicle.
I'll bet you must be wondering how you can win this Aurifil Thread Chart, huh?
Required Entry:
1. Become a follower of my blog, either by Google Friend Connect and/or by subscribing to the RSS feed--links are on the top of my sidebar. (I do check to make sure, and if you aren't, then I have to pick another winner it's just not fair to those who follow the rules.)
Optional entries:
2. Tweet, Blog, or Facebook this giveaway. If you do, leave a comment with the link, so I can check it out. (You can one or all of these, just make sure to leave links for each method in separate comments.)

ReplyDeleteI visited Pumpkinvine Corner and saw that they carry the strip tube ruler by cozy quilt designs. I simply love the idea of tube quilting and I have done it with another ruler like that one (since it wasn't available here in Germany) but the idea of tube quilting was great! I can recommend to all of you to buy that ruler and have fun fun fun!
ReplyDeleteI commented on your post "Bundle inspired by my neice's watercolor painting".
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Aurifil color is 4663. It reminds me of turquoise water and blue skies... Summer in the Southern Sea or something like that - but that's no suitable name for a thread color, is it?
ReplyDeleteLast but not least: Many thanks to Jean from Pumpkinvine Corner for the chance to win this giveaway. It's always the generous people who make giveaways possible.

ReplyDelete3. This is kinda dorky but I really would love one of these : Lacis Needle Tool for Sewing Machine and H.and Needles. I've only been sewing since Sept and had to get out my tweezers twice to grab a needle out behind my bobbin holder.
ReplyDeleteThey also had some books I liked: Once Upon a Time in X-Blocks Land -that uses X-Block tool (rulers). Thanks for giving me a new online store I can shop at!
4. Left a comment under your post about Fat Quarter Idol-I'm going to vote for you next!
ReplyDelete5. My favorite is 1148: I would call it Ice Water. Because if water wasn't clear, then I would want it to be this color.

ReplyDeleteThere were so many things I liked at pumpkinvinecorner! The stencils are amazing (I need some of those) and the hangers are wonderful. I loved the clothesline projects and of course the Aurifil threads! I was happy to see you can get the 12 wt in smaller spools. Hopefully, it will soon be available in a wider variety of colors!!

ReplyDeleteAt Pumkinvine Corner they have a great selection of patterns. I especially like Zelda's Fancy Hat.
ReplyDeleteJean, thanks for the giveaway. About this time last year I ordered 20 different shades of green embroidery floss to try to find one that was what I wanted. That's the frustration of trying to match colors when ordering on-line.

ReplyDeleteI went to Punpkinvinecorner, and there I found out what the fuss is about Collins Flat Flower Pins -- you can use them when you rotary cut to hold the stack in place from shifting! Wish I'd known that before.....can't buy them here, so I'm bookmarkeing Pumpkingvine for later shopping!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love coming up with colot names! How about 5004 - Summer Dove,
ReplyDelete1128 - Chicory, and 2535 - Sweetie's Lipstick ?
Hi, This is Jean from Pumpkinvinecorner.com. Thank you all for your comments about my site. And BIG thanks to our blogger, Jennie, for making all of this possible.I want to know where all you stitchers were when I was trying to come up with thread color names! So many good names have been suggested. To further comment, I do plan to add more 12wt colors as demand has picked up recently. Also, someone was wishing that I carried 9" hangers. The pointed heart and the straight Heart hangers are both available in 9 inch lengths. I'm always open to suggestions and available to answer questions. Good day to you all.

ReplyDelete#5 - Wow, my favorite color of Aurifil thread and what would I name it...woohoo, what a great assignment! It seems like I've done this before on the Aurifil Facebook page a while ago so it shouldn't be too hard. Oh, yes, just because I live in Montana it must be #4655 which I would gladly name "Heavenly Huckleberry". Pretty, delicious, and nutritious, too! Gotta love that. :)
